It's that time of year when your table has to look its very best for every occasion. During the holidays, it's common for candle wax to drip onto your finest tablecloth. Here are some helpful hints on how to remove these troublesome stains.
1. Place ice in a bag and put it on the wax stain to freeze the wax. Hold it there until the wax is good and hard.
2. Chip off all of the wax that you can with a butter knife and/or your fingernails (be especially careful with lace tablecloths).
3. Now you have two options: Bring it in for a professional cleaning or lay a plain brown paper bag (without any writing on it) or blotting paper over the wax. Heat an iron to medium-hot and press it over the bag, changing the bag as it absorbs the wax.

The holidays are here. No more time for last minute diets. What you see is what you get - right? Wrong! You can actually look 10 pounds thinner by simply altering the way you dress. Follow these "slimming" style techniques from Dressing Well's Mary Lou Andre:
Start with a monochromatic base - one color from shoulder to hem. This creates a vertical silhouette, which is typically more slenderizing than an outfit with several contrasting colors.
Make sure all your clothes fit properly. Clothes that are too big or too small can add weight to your frame.
Dark clothes such as black, chocolate brown, navy and dark gray are size minimizers. Wear these shades to camouflage the most troublesome areas of your body.
Avoid bulky layers. They have the potential to make you look heavier.
Pay particular attention to your sleeve length. When sleeves haven't been properly shortened, they can shift focus to your hip line.
Do not wear light or bright colors. They are size maximizers. Many women like to wear dark base pieces (i.e. pants, skirts, jackets) and light colors near the face to draw the eye up and away from the rest of the body.
